Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is the use of drugs to treat cancer.  Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of cells that are invasive and have the ability to transfer from one organ to another (metastasis). Chemotherapy drugs work by damaging these rapidly growing cells and are administered alone or in a combination based on a treatment protocol. This protocol, or outline of a cancer treatment plan, is dependent on the type of cancer a patient has. Although side effects are possible, many pets tolerate chemotherapy very well.
