Ultrasound

Ultrasound (also known as sonography) is a non-invasive and pain free procedure that can be used as a diagnostic tool for some abdominal and reproductive disorders.  Unlike x-rays, which show size, shape and position of organs, an ultrasound enables a veterinarian to see inside of an organ.  This procedure can also aid in the identification of abdominal masses, tumors, free fluid and irregularities in the lymph nodes.  Ultrasound guided biopsies are often performed on tissues or fluids detected during this procedure.
